This project explores how intra-Asia marriage immigration reshapes social, ethnic, and cultural landscapes in Taiwan and South Korea. It examines the evolving concept of integration, the roles of gender and ethnicity, and the empowerment of marginalized immigrants. The aim is to develop a new framework for understanding long-term integration and the structural challenges faced by feminized immigrants from emerging economies in new Asian democracies. The research addresses gaps in global migration studies, focusing on gender, integration, and intersectionality in these contexts.
The project lead is Hsin-Chieh Chang.
Prof Rachel Murphy is the OSGA academic responsible for coordinating the visit.
