This scholarship scheme supports four doctoral researchers (DPhil/PhD level) from the Visegrad countries to undertake a funded visiting study period at the University of Oxford. The scholarships will enable successful applicants to spend one academic term at Oxford during their doctoral studies, taking place in Michaelmas Term 2026 (October–December).
Delivered in partnership with four leading universities in Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, and Poland, the project aims to strengthen academic excellence and establish a sustained research corridor between these institutions and the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies. The initiative is designed not only to support individual researchers, but also to foster long-term institutional and scholarly collaboration between the Visegrad region and Oxford.
What the scholarship offers
Four scholarships are available, each providing full financial support for:
- One doctoral researcher ordinarily resident per Visegrad country (Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, or Poland)
- University fees for the visiting period
- Living costs for the duration of the stay at Oxford
Applicants should consult the Recognised Students webpage for detailed information on eligibility, application procedures, and timelines. Please reach out to Hazel Cook as the lead project co-ordinator for more information.
