Teal is a doctoral student in Middle East area studies at Linacre College, University of Oxford. Her research explores global financial crises and investment migration through an examination of trade and business exchanges between Israel and pre-revolutionary Iran. Her fieldwork is conducted through a Sandwich Scholarship at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She received an MA from SOAS, University of London as a Kamran Djam Scholar in Iranian studies, an MAIS in comparative and international law from The Johns Hopkins University–Nanjing University Centre for Chinese and American Studies as a Hassenfeld Fellow in Chinese studies, and a dual BA summa cum laude from Northeastern University in languages, literatures and cultures and cinema studies with a specialisation in French and a minor in Chinese.
