Course Director for the MSc/MPhil in Japanese Studies and Professor in the Economy and Business of Japan
My research interests include entrepreneurship, management of innovation, corporate governance, and employment relations in Japan, as well as political economy and economic development in East Asia. My recent publications include Building a New Economy: Japan's Digital and Green Transformation (2024) and (co-authored) Compressed Development: Time and Timing in Economic and Social Development (2020).
I currently supervise or co-supervise D.Phil students on a range of topics from Japan's space industry to Northeast China's early industrialization.
