Dr Ankita Pandey's research explores the lived dimensions of citizenship, civil liberties activism, social movements, and legal mobilisation in contemporary India. In addition to her core training in political science she draws from history and anthropology, allowing her to trace the evolving practices of democracy in India from the 1960s to the present. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, where she was a Commonwealth Scholar.

Her forthcoming book, Becoming Allies: Civil Liberties Activism in India (Cambridge University Press, 2025), examines the organisational practices and political imagination of civil liberties groups in India as a distinctive mode of collective action.
