Dr Bo-jiun Jing speaks at Munich Security Conference 2026 side event

In February Dr Bo-jiun Jing, Senior Research Fellow & Programme Manager in Taiwan Studies at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, spoke at an official side event at the Munich Security Conference 2026, held at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof.

The event, titled “Alert Turned Asleep? Rethinking Security Threat Fatigue in Europe and Taiwan”, was organised by the Latvian Institute of International Affairs and the Geopolitics and Security Studies Centre. It brought together experts to examine how democratic resilience can erode under chronic pressure, how media narratives and political cycles shape public alertness, and how to sustain deterrence and preparedness without exhausting societies.

The discussion explored parallels between Taiwan and European states, including the Baltic region, with the aim of generating insights for strengthening societal endurance, adaptive communication, and whole-of-government responses to persistent security threats.

Further details of the event are available on the official Munich Security Conference website.
