Felipe Krause, Coordinator of the Brazilian Studies Programme, and Henry Large, an OSGA doctoral candidate, have published a new article in Foreign Policy - “Brazil Has No Answers for Its China Problem.”
The article examines the contrasting approaches to China being advanced in Brazil’s upcoming presidential election (4 October 2026) and the deeper economic and geopolitical constraints that will shape Brazil-China relations regardless of the election outcome. It argues that Brazil faces a longer-term challenge of preserving the benefits of its relationship with China while reducing excessive dependence and maintaining greater freedom of action in an increasingly competitive international environment.
