Iyone Agboraw

Iyone is a doctoral candidate in Area Studies (Africa) at St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford.  Professor Wale Adebanwi is her supervisor. Her research foregrounds the emotional/ mental health response to uncertainty as well as challenges the current epistemic thought on what constitutes African uncertainty. She investigates how Ghanaians and Nigerians born in the 1980s/90s both respond to and understand uncertainty. She graduated with a distinction from the MSc in Comparative and International Education at the University of Oxford (2018). During this course, she completed a dissertation supervised by Dr David Johnson interrogating how African graduate students at the University of Oxford read and respond to uncertainty. She primarily focused on the different educational and career choices that they made within conditions of uncertainty. She also holds an MSc in African Studies from the University of Oxford (2017) during which Dr Sloan Mahone supervised her dissertation investigating barriers to the diagnosis and care of autism in Ghana.  She holds a BA from the Institut d'études politiques de Paris commonly known as Sciences Po Paris (2015).
