Hi all! I am Wenbei Chen from Wuhan, China. Formerly graduating from Wuhan University and engaged in cinema studies, I intend to expand my interest in social sciences at GAS, especially in East Asia politics, social policy, and urban studies. Also, I have a particular thirst for exploring the cultural side, such as rituals, narratives, symbols and the archetypes that define a community, using various theories and methodologies. As a member new to the area studies discipline, my overall and consistent consideration will be to examine any power relations among areas and, at a micro level, how the massive working class, as well as marginalised groups address challenges in flux to maintain their dignity and autonomy.
