Tianxing Cao is interested in exploring the relationship between China and Africa after the age of decolonization, especially the role of linguistic, ethnic, religious, and national identities in the Sino-African space. He aims to investigate how different approaches to languages and nation building could shape future relations between China, Africa, and the latter’s former colonial powers. Tianxing is a native of Beijing, China and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley. He will be reading at St Antony’s College.
