Speaker: Santiago Montenegro, President of Asofondos
Santiago Montenegro is currently president of the Colombian Association of Pension Fund Administrators, Asofondos; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Colombian multinational ISA and member of the Board of Directors of the Colombian Stock Exchange. He is an economist and has a master's degree from the Universidad de Los Andes; MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, and PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford. During 2002 and 2006 he was director of the National Planning Department. Other positions he has held are: Economist for the World Bank in Washington DC, Advisor to the Government for Coffee Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Universidad de los Andes, President of the National Association of Financial Institutions, Anif. He is the author of "The arduous transit to modernity: history of the Colombian textile industry during the first half of the 20th century" (Universidad de Antioquia, 2002); Editor of Visión Colombia Segundo Centenario, 2019 (Planeta, 2005); Open society, geography and development (Norma, 2006); and, World crisis, protection and industrialization (Norma, 2007; with José Antonio Ocampo; first edition of Fescol, 1983).
