A conversation between Boris Dralyuk and Oliver Ready about their new translations of short fiction by Leo Tolstoy and Nikolai Gogol respectively.
The event will be followed by a drinks reception to follow at 6 in the Hilda Box. All welcome.
Boris Dralyuk is the Executive Editor of the Los Angeles Review of Books, the co-editor, with Robert Chandler and Irina Mashinski, of The Penguin Book of Russian Poetry and the editor of 1917: Stories and poems from the Russian Revolution. Among his many translations are the stories of Isaac Babel and Mikhail Zoshchenko.
Oliver Ready is Research Fellow in Russian Literature and Culture at St Antony’s, and a Departmental Lecturer in Russian. His translations include Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment (Penguin Classics), and The Rehearsals by Vladimir Sharov.
