Speaker: Faisal Devji

DPIR, CIS and St Cross College present the Global Thinkers of the International Discussion Series. The series brings together scholars from across disciplines to discuss and highlight the importance of history and intellectual diversity in International Relations. This term, the series concentrates on Global Thinkers from South Asia.

On Wednesday, 7 February, join Dr Faisal Devji of the Faculty of History, St Antony’s College and author of Muslim Zion: Pakistan as a Political Idea (Harvard University Press) for a discussion of the international thought of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Jinnah was a lawyer, a politician, and the founder of modern Pakistan. Faced with the serious problems of a young country, he tackled Pakistan’s problems with authority and is known there as 'Quaid-I Azam' or 'Great Leader'. Like many other thinkers in this series, his voice has not made its way into mainstream International Relations.
