On 17 January, BBC released a documentary called "The Modi Question". The documentary reveals that UK's foreign ministry's probe held India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly responsible for the 2002 Gujarat 'riots'. Ever since it was screened, the Union government of India has used emergency powers to censor it online. There have been attacks on university students in Delhi, and there are reports that the administration (under central govt) of JNU shut off electricity to stop the screening. We at Oxford South Asian Alternative Forum are screening this in solidarity with our peers in Indian universities back home and in protest of ever increasing control of the government on media in India. Join us on 31 Jan 4 pm at Nissan Theatre. The screening will be followed by a discussion.
