The Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Dr. Luis Almagro’, delivered a lecture on ‘The OAS, Democracy and the Venezuelan Crisis’ to mark the inauguration of the new academic year at the LAC on 9 October. His lecture took place at the Nissan Lecture in St Antony’s college, where he talked about his own role in addressing the crisis in Venezuela, since his appointment as a SG in 2015. The SG was welcomed by the Warden of St Antony’s College, Professor Roger Goodman. Students and fellows from various programmes in the university, as well as members of the Oxford community, attended the lecture, an event that also served to highlight the significance that our university gives to Latin America.
During his visit to Oxford, the Secretary General of the Organisation of American States, Dr. Luis Almagro, held an informal conversation with the LAC’s MPhil and MSc students. During the meeting, Dr. Almagro answered questions from students on a wide range of topics regarding his role at the OAS.
