Alessandro Bianchi joins the Bodleian Japanese Library

We are pleased to announced that Dr Alessandro Bianchi joined us as the new BJL librarian on the 1st February, 2019.  Before arriving at Oxford, he worked at the British Library, Freer | Sackler (Smithsonian Institution), and taught at Haverford College.

 

Alessandro received a PhD from Cambridge, with a thesis on political satire in eighteenth-century Japan. His research area is Tokugawa-period literature, history of the book and material culture.
