A warm welcome to Susanne YP Choi who is Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor at Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (April -December 2024) visiting the Hub on Gender in an Age of Global Care Crises and Transformations.
She is Professor of Sociology and Co-Director of the Gender Research Centre at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Her first book Masculine Compromise: Migration, Family and Gender in China was published by the University of California Press. Her articles were published in American Journal of Sociology, British Journal of Sociology, Sociology, and Journal of Marriage and Family, among others. Susanne is currently working on her second book on Class, Gender and LGBT Intimacy in China (under contract with University of California Press).
She will give her first Leverhulme Trust Public Lecture on ‘Masculinity and the Global South Care Crisis’ on Tuesday 21st May at 12 noon. The venue is the Syndicate Room at St. Antony's College, 62 Woodstock Rd, Oxford, OX2 6JF.
